If you are anything like me you will already be bored of coats and thick knit tights, and instead lusting over new sunglasses and the feeling of warmth the sun gives your skin. While I hate to go on, I have always found that street style snaps taken at Coachella give me so much inspiration for my summer wardrobe. It is great seeing things on a runway, or in a brands lookbook but nothing gives greater inspiration than seeing how another average joe would wear it. Ok so Kelly Osbourne is pictured here, but she just looks amazing at the moment so we can forgive it.

Last years Coachella had a real vintage inspired vibe which I am definitely going to be going for this year, probably because charity shops are the only place I can afford at the moment. I do love second hand or vintage finds though as they give so much more personality. I bought a BIBA dress in a charity shop today for £20, it is the most dreamy Woodstock 70s piece ever and I am definitely taking it to Coachella with me to wear with black gladiator sandals and big sunnies.

It would seem pretty florals, big floppy hats and hair flowers ala Lana Del Rey are a big yes, alongside a casual vibe of shorts and sandals and fresh out of bed (tent) hair. While I am looking forward to playing dress up some of the time in California, I hope not everybody looks like this all of the time, as I will certainly have a freakout with my limited summer wardrobe and funds.

I am planning to open my little blog shop this weekend with some pieces that are either too good for ebay or I have scouted to sell on! I am quite excited as there are some great bits and bobs up for sale, and it all goes towards the California fund as well.

I thought I would try out a different look yesterday. I finally bought the flatforms of my dreams and have been wearing them everyday since as I am completely in love with them. I have been so bored of my Russell & Bromley's and these are about as far away from patent loafers as you can get in the everyday shoe world. I also am not one for wearing just leggings and a top but tried it out at work and got told I look nice twice so I guess it worked out alright? Excuse the strange grey streak in my hair, I am not actually going grey, I just didn't rub in my dry shampoo enough, oh the glamour!

This week I bowed out of my internship in favour of picking up a LOT of extra hours at work. Usually I would scorn such behaviour however I really need the money for when I go to California and this is the only way it is going to happen. I am still writing though, I interview Django Django on Monday and am having a few more pieces go up on the 1883 Magazine website soon too. I should be meeting Josh Beech on Monday as I interviewing him too for the magazine. Sick with excitement, he is the ultimate dream boat!

I also put down my first payment for my Bestival ticket this year. I went last year and it blows all other festivals I have attended before out of the water. If your thinking of going, do it! Who else has heard the new Arctic Monkeys track 'R U Mine'? It is so sexy I have had in on repeat for days, full on Alex Turned swoon.

I didn't really have time to take proper outfit pictures yesterday so thought I would do a details type thing as I really wanted to show off my new charity shops purchases. I don't know if the ones where I live are just really good but I got this polka dot shirt for the princely sum of £1 and the jumper was £4. I have been searching for a jumper like this for what feels like forever and finally got one for an absolute bargain price!

I have also been searching for some flatforms but cannot find any that steal my heart. I got these from h&m but am going to return them as the weather seems to have turned and they just aren't summer day shoes. I also don't think they really count as flatforms either, just really nice wedges.

It has been a pretty quiet week for me, I picked up tonsillitis and the stomach bug that was going round work, lucky me. Feeling like you might throw up every time you eat is not ideal but thankfully I feel a lot better this weekend. I celebrated my return to health last night by going to the launch of a new club night called Cat Lovers (best club night name ever) at The Queen Of Hoxton. You can see this outfit full length here. Felix from The Maccabees was DJing and did himself proud. We got chatting to him and he invited us back to a house party in Brixton after which was the best Almost Famous moment ever. I am the biggest Maccabees fan and he was such a nice, sweet guy. I nearly passed out when he kissed me on the cheek goodbye. It doesn't matter how many people I interview, there will always be some who I totally admire for their music and get all excited over.

I hope everybody has been enjoying the sun and had a good weekend, spent most of this afternoon on our roof eating pizza and laughing about last night with my housemates, lovely.

A trend which has been going for a few summers now, the jelly shoe is such a fun way to add a bit of childish charm to any outfit. I think the best way to wear them are in pop bright tones to make a real statement and a splash of colour to a outfit.

I really love the first mint coloured ones from Topshop and at £12 they are an absolute bargain, perfect for running about on the beach or out during the day. I would keep the rest of the outfit simple to go for a fresh look. I think these would look great with a black leather backpack and simple airy dress. While having a look on the Topshop website I came across these and tweeted about them to see that my friend Rosie had just had a piece published on the trend on the Mr Shoes Website. Yay for Rosie!

These pink jelly shoes are so great, I think they would look especially good with a really bright contrasting nail polish such as this blue one. Jelly shoes also look really good with statement leggings such as these however I would tone it down with a plain t-shirt and simple jewellery.

These yellow jelly shoes are really bright but would look so good once a summer tan has taken with denim shorts and a bright top. I bought some friendship bracelets the other day to wear as anklets, however now really want this making kit as well to design my own. This cross cuff bracelet/ring piece is so good and I think I might just have to buy it!

Ahead of going to California I thought I would show you what I have bought recently in preparation. These boob tube tops are going to be my staple I think, they will be perfect for sunbathing in on the beach to avoid strap marks and great with denim shorts and a floaty top during the day or at Coachella. I also really love these cross necklaces. I originally just wanted the black one but at £1.50 each I thought it was rude to not get all three and experiment in my jewellery a bit. I usually am a gold only girl who wears a mix of gold and silver rings as I genuinely think it looks nice. The pink one is my favourite I think, got such a thing for as bright as possible pink at the moment, hi girly side! These sunnies are also my dream, they are an exact copy of the Rayban Cat Eye sunglasses I have dreamt of for years. I am still a little bit devastated that somebody stole my Rayban Wayfarers at Bestival, but have finally been able to move on. Usually I am not possessive over material things but I saved up and bought them for myself as a Christmas present 5 years ago and they have been everywhere with me, I think I was a little emotionally attached if thats even possible with a paid of sunglasses.

As you might have been able to tell from my last three posts, last weekend left me in a bit of a whirlwind. I feel fully recovered now though and back on form. The Black Keys were absolutely amazing and I had a good old dance to them with a beer in my hands, perfect in my eyes. Band Of Skulls supported and while I had previously not been keen on them, they too were great live and I have been listening to their album to review with very excited ears. Another thing that has got me all riled up is the second Sleigh Bells album. If you read my blog regularly you will know I am love with their singer Alexis Krauss. It went to full scale girl crush yesterday when 'Reign Of Terror' become available to stream from the NME website. It is absolutely amazing and everybody should listen to it.

Tomorrow I am interning and will also be on Hoxton FM talking about all the exciting music things I have been up to. You can tune in here from 6.30pm to hear about my week as a music journalist!

I think what I wore today was quite a plain and basic outfit but I quite like it. I painted my nails bright pink to snazzy it up a bit and wore a headband for the first time in ages. I used to never be seen without one but then just stopped. It sounds silly but I feel a lot more 'complete' with a headband or hat on my bonce.

As we all know London Fashion Week has started. I usually refrain from posting about it because while I do watch and read religiously over its duration I find it SO boring when everybody posts about the same thing for weeks. If anything absolutely amazing catches my eye though I might have to share.

Hey Guys! I am still alive, isn't that amazing? You would think I had collapsed in a heap and died with how busy I have been recently but I have not, I am still very much alive and kicking it about London somewhere or other.

I have had a week off work this week which has been amazing. I have still been interning, I interviewed Feeder last week and saw them do a live session of their new song which was really cool. I am off to see a tribute Johnny Cash band on Friday and on Saturday we have some pals coming to stay from Liverpool. We are all off to go and see The Black Keys at Ally Pally which should be a right banger, if the weekend we all had together back at the beginning of December is anything to go by I might just need another week off afterwards to recover.

Nothing else exciting to report, except for look how amazing my backpack is. It was £12 off eBay and we have been together every day since the beasty arrived in the post.

I still have some stuff up on eBay if you fancy taking a looky-lou, most of it has been sold now but there is still some great bits to buy. I am going to be putting all my future charity shop finds up on ebay too so keep looking back.

Pastel colours and soft silhouettes are currently the hottest trend for the upcoming warmer weather. While it may seem crazy to be thinking about what to wear in the summer when we've all just been accosted with snow it makes me feel a little bit better about the cold when I know that it will soon be time to get my pins out and bathe in the sunshine once again.

The pastels trend is a particularly hard one for us English Roses as it can very easily make you look washed out. I am quite fortunate that while I have fair skin and dark hair (and the freckles to go with it) that I also do catch a tan, the last of which is still clinging onto life on my shoulders, torso and legs, praise the lord.

I have already bought this hat in black and absolutely love it, I also have a pair of similar shorts which are getting lots of wear and I can't wait to dress them down in the summer with sandals. I find it so important to be comfortable in the heat so a baggy vest tucked into shorts and this kimono are perfect to not feeling completely naked but still keep cool. I love these sandals and might actually have to buy them, the flatform trend is one I am in love with but cannot find anything that doesn't look like a hospital shoe to feed my lust.

Alexis Krauss, singer and one half of Sleigh Bells, is quickly becoming a bit of a fashion icon in my eyes. An Update

Hello world! It has been a whole week since I last blogged, and that is mainly due to the fact that our internet has been broken for the last ten days or so. I have also been really busy and stressed out, making it impossible for me to get online, I am currently at my Brothers house stealing his internets and waiting for pizza to arrive.

I have been working six day weeks still, half at work, half interning for GigWise. It has been going really well and I have been loving being there. On Friday I went to a recording studio in London where The Rolling Stones, The Beatles and other amazing people have recorded and interviewed Feeder, they also did an acoustic version of their new song 'Borders' for us which was amazing. It was one of those 'this is what I want to do for the rest of my life moments', now just to make that happen eh? I mentioned before I interviewed Enter Shikari, you can see the video from that here.

All this hard work has made me feel rather run down, my sleep has gone between going to bed at 9pm and sleeping for eleven hours through to barely having four hours depending on which day you speak to me. I was even asked by a girl at work when the last time I slept was, not a very nice thing to say but there we have it. Probably a good thing my internet is broken, suitcases under the eyes is not a good look.

However I have just this week to get through and then next week I have the week off work as holiday and am going to see Tribes, a Johnny Cash Tribute band and The Black Keys. We also have some friends from Liverpool coming down to stay for the weekend so I am looking forward to that as well.

I am hoping that our internet is going to be fixed on Tuesday and I can post properly, got a scheduled post for you tomorrow in the mean time.

For anybody interested my eBaying went very well indeed, I made £150 which is amazing. Being greedy as I am I have just put even more stuff up and will be adding even more. You can have a little look here. If you bid on anything you can live happily knowing it is all going towards paying for my trip to California and new clothes to wear while there.

Wardrobe For Sale

Another very busy week for me, working six days is becoming the normal as is a hangover at work on a Saturday. It is all good though, have been having a whale of a time the last few weeks. Being kept busy is also very good for the bank balance and spending fund for my upcoming trip to California in April. However you can never been too prepared with money when you go away so I have decided to sell some of my clothes on eBay to help with the pennies for my trip.

There are lots of shoes and pretty dresses up for grabs, the majority of which are from Topshop, ASOS, h&m and Forever 21. I will be adding more items over the next week as well, so be sure to keep checking back.

The last week has been so hectic, if I am not interning I am working and if I am not doing either of these things I am probably asleep. This week despite working six days I also managed to go for drinks both with my work gang and with people from my internship. I also went home to Hampshire for the day yesterday for Nandos and to see Mission Impossible 3 with my family for my Brothers birthday. As you might imagine this didn't leave a lot of room for blogging, this week should be a bit quieter though.

Wednesday

Arriving into the office I was told that I was to do a video interview with upcoming band Dry The River at 5pm and had to prepare questions for the band. I absolutely love interviewing people so was really happy to get the chance to do so on my second day interning for GigWise. I also wrote a news story on the Red Hot Chilli Peppers (here) and created a gallery on the most famous ex's of the music industry (here).

Friday

After my success on Monday predicting who might be nominated for this years Brit Awards I was asked to do another piece on what I thought of the nominations, which wasn't a lot (here) I also came up with ten possible headliners for Glastonbury 2013, as they have already been confirmed but not announced (here). Later on I was also told I would be doing another video interview on Monday with Enter Shikari so spent my afternoon researching the band.

Monday

Today was a really good day. In the morning I compiled a list of Music Top 15 Druggiest Albums (here) before heading over to Tottenham Court Road to conduct my interview with Enter Shikari. The interview went really well and the band were all lovely, which doesn't always happen! I am really looking forward to seeing the final edits of both this interview and my one last week with Dry The River. This afternoon was spent doing an album review of Tribes debut album 'Baby' which is an absolute stormer!

I am interning another two days this week again which I am really looking forward to. I also have some more writing coming up for Tantrum Magazine, 55pages Magazine and I also had an interview with the band Cave Painting published by 1883 Magazine which you can read here:

After having a right faff last night over what to wear for my first day interning at Gigwise I ended up waking up a little bit late and grabbing my new favourite dress and the usual suspects when it comes to shoes and accessories. Speaking to the lovely Mad Elizabeth on Twitter we decided I should keep a style diary of a music intern here on The Robyn Diaries. Todays outfit was simple yet cosy as I didn't know what I would be getting up to, or where, as I have been assigned some very challenging tasks on internships before.

Today however I had an absolute ball. Firstly everybody was absolutely lovely, I have been invited out for drinks after work on Friday, and secondly I have had four pieces of work published on the Gigwise website today with a promise of doing some interviews next week.

I started my day with two news pieces on the upcoming Amy Winehouse memorial gig (here), and on Rhianna shouting her mouth off (here). Just before lunch I did a blog post on what utter mainstream crap the Brit Awards are (here) before spending the afternoon with the so very taxing task of picking the top 10 single men of 2012 (here). I also wrote up a piece on the album which changed my life just before heading home but it is yet to go live on the site.

As you might be able to guess I have had an absolutely amazing day and cannot wait to go back on Wednesday to spend time doing the one thing I love most in the world; writing.

Happy Saturday! I hope everybody has been having a better day than me. I spent mine at work with a cold feeling really ill and sorry for myself. I will confess to cheating as this is not what I wore today but earlier in the week when I was less poorly.

I have lived in these leather shorts for the last two years and am really sad that their death and retirement is imminent as they are in shreds inside and the creasing on the leg is just starting to really not be such a good look anymore. I think I am going to have to hit the vintage shops for a replacement pair soon. The top I got in a charity shop last week for £3 which I am really chuffed with. I can see it being great for layering with pretty simple outfits like this.

Now to the exciting part! As you may know I have been toiling away since July (and while at Uni a lot longer before then) trying to get myself some paid freelance writing. I have decided that after six months this is just not happening for me, even if I have had a lot of pieces published by various magazines. I am so very happy to announce that as of Monday I am starting at Gig Wise as their new intern! I am hoping that such a great position will lead to some very exciting new ventures in 2012. I will continue to do writing on the side of this and work as well, as it is one of the few things in life that keeps me sane.

Here it is, my first outfit post of 2012, and the first one I have done in an absolute age! If you've been reading for a while you will know I left my camera in Liverpool when I visited at the beginning of December and only recently got it back so I haven't really been able to blog properly. However I have the little beasty back and so blogging and outfit posts shall return to normal - hurrah!

I feel a bit like Mystic Meg's cooler younger sister or something like it in this dress, which I kind of love. It was £15 in the Chelsea Girl by River Island sale, which is a total steal. I absolutely love the fabric and floaty sheerness of it, which you can't really see in this picture. The sleeves are something else and make me feel all 70s and cool. I paired it with some burgundy shoe boots on a night out recently but like all black for day in this dress.

This is one of the few times you will see me without lashings of eyeliner as well. I've lost mine and have been too lazy after work to go to the shops and get some more. In the mean time I kind of like looking a bit more natural although am sure I'll be over it soon. If you look really closely you can see the ridiculous lump and bruise I acquired on my chin on New Years Eve from a meeting with a set of stone steps. Not ideal but glad it is on the underside of my face and that the rest of my injuries from my tumble are not visible with clothes on, haha.

While on Twitter (Robyn_Lynch) earlier today I saw that the people at Fashion Blog Love were looking for people to submit four items of clothing based on an outfit of a celebrity they admire to be featured on their website. I know I have already featured Lana Del Rey recently but I really do love her music and style and thought that a Currently Coveting post on the star would fit in really well with what Fashion Blog Love are looking for. As such I decided to post two outfits as she seems to have two quite distinct looks.

The first is all buttoned up collared shirts, with red lipstick and amazing floral headbands. A look that I myself love, although I need some more headbands to complete it, I thought that this little outfit really reflects her style in this way. I can just imagine a gorgeous pair of tan sandals to complete this outfit come those long awaited summer months.

The second look I have put together is a more relaxed yet more retro inspired outfit. I love these burgundy shorts from Urban Outfitters and think they would look great together with this vintage top and some big gold earrings. The black bikini top underneath would make this the perfect way to adopt her look above, although a big, fluffy tabby cat would also be required.

Tantrum Magazine: Top 5 Albums of 2011

Writing up a Top 5 Albums of 2011 for Tantrum Magazine was possibly one of the harder things I have had to do this year. With some many amazing albums out these past twelve months, and so many who deserve some limelight and praise it was impossible to pick just five records, so much so I refused to put the list in order.

Virgin Music: The Black Keys - El Camino

Another piece I had published just before the end of the year, this time a review of The Black Keys album El Camino. I have been writing for Virgin Music since September 2009 and have done some really exciting things with them in the past, including having a band play in my kitchen for a sessions video for the website.

I was particularly excited to review this album as I have tickets to see The Black Keys at the start of February in London with my two beautiful housemates, and six or seven scouse lads who are coming to stay for the weekend, who else smells carnage in the air?

Hi gang! It has been a while since I have blogged properly, but that is mainly because December is very busy and a lot of things have gone horribly wrong. It is also partly because I left my camera in Liverpool at the beginning of the month, doh! Happily, my camera and I have been reunited again and things are slowly starting to sort themselves out.

As you can see above I got some lovely things for Christmas, and have been doing some shopping as well. I finally got the YSL Arty ring I have been pining over for two years. In my eyes this is the most beautiful one Yves Saint Laurent have ever done so I am really glad it actually took two years to wear my Mother down to get one for Christmas or a Birthday.

AX Paris also gifted me with this gorgeous rust coloured chiffon shift dress which you will see in an outfit post soon. I picked up the cross necklace, like I need more, from Topshop, the black, pink and purple cardigan was £5 in a charity shop, and the cream cardigan my Mum bought me. I also got lots of dollars for Christmas, along with this lovely laptop case and pin set from Cath Kidston and some other bits and bobs for Christmas.

Among my other bits I bought this dress from work over a month ago in preparation for New Years Eve this weekend, I plan to wear it with big black wedges, a black leather jacket and a purple wig. I am going to an intergalactic themed night and am very excited for yet more fancy dress.

This top was a bargain in River Island at £15 and has billowing sleeves, I plan to wear it tomorrow in a Mystic Meg style outfit which I am planning to post if I am still alive after my first 'get fit for California' run. The last time I went for a run I threw up and passed out because my sugar levels are so bad, it has gotten better recently so fingers crossed.

I was completely gutted when I found out The Horrors had pulled out moments before leaving the house, however The Maccabees and the other bands playing more than filled the gap in the line up.

Listening Lately: Lana Del Rey

It isn't often that I find female artists all that exciting or inspiring, however every now and then somebody comes along and strikes me with such an amazing sound and image I cannot help but become obsessed. Most recently my girl crush on Lana Del Rey aka Elizabeth Grant has rocketed beyond belief.

A deep and husky voice occasionally tips to sweet and enchanting charm on her debut track Video Games which has seen the New York star become the hottest tip for 2012 so far. A debut album out at the end of January has stirred much excitement over the retro inspired singer whose style and poise has set hearts racing as much as her music.

A name which is definitely going to be seen all over next years festival circuit, Lana Del Rey makes me want to adorn all the floral hair pins I can get my hands on, lay back in a field with blistering sun on my skin and have somebody to hold my hand. Get ready to fall in love with her captivating voice singing out lyrics of such brutal truth you'll wonder if she crept inside your head at those darkest moments.

Free Christmas Gifts

Putting aside spending time with your family, decorating the house, wearing silly jumpers, giving and receiving presents and eating all the mince pies in sight, one of the other things I love about Christmas is how brands are hell bent on giving it away for free to make you spend your pennies with them. I for one, am easily swayed when it comes to a good bargain, and upon stepping into Bond Street Boots one day after work last week I was greeted with all the offers a girl could dream of.

Annoyingly my make up always has a habit of running out or going missing at exactly the same time, anybody else get that? Heading into Boots I was on a mission to get all the bits I needed without spending a fortune, much to my surprise I managed this and came out with some special treats too.

The first being this lovely red lipgloss free with two bottles of Diet Coke from Models Own. I have always wanted to try out Models Own products as I always hear rave reviews on the old blogosphere and now I know why. I love wearing red lipstick however it really dries my lips out but this is a perfect alternative, despite being a gloss you can see above it still has really great pigmentation and a nice shine too.

On my make up haul of Boots I noticed that 17 were offering a little pouch with some nail treats inside when you buy any three of their products. I thought I had hit the jackpot when the cheapest brand in Boots was giving away free polishes. While like everybody else I love to play with mad coloured nails and the occasional pattern too, I am also incredibly neuronic and hate when my nails do not match my outfit (do not talk to me about wearing underwear that doesn't match). As such red and black are two of my favourite nail shades, but they also the two that have currently run out in my collection.

I know that Rimmel are also giving away a huge pack of treats when you spend with them, have you found any other high street brand give aways this Christmas?

At the weekend I went to Liverpool for my housemates 25th Birthday and had one of the best weekends in such a very long time. Doing a few touristy things which included seeing the Cocoa-Cola truck, drinking in The Cavern where The Beatles played and observing fights on the street we also partied like there is no tomorrow. As such there are not many blog appropriate pictures of the weekend which brings me on to my next point. I left my camera in Liverpool which is hopefully being posted back to me, but I have no idea when I will get it back. I will be trying to post as much as possible until then, however outfit posts and ones with my own snaps are my favourite.

Lomography: Berlin

As you might know I went to Berlin in October with two of my ladies for a little weekend away. For the trip I bought my very first Lomography camera, the Mini Diana and have just got one reel of pictures back. I didn't really know what to expect as I have never used a camera like this before and am a bit of a novice. While in Selfridges this week I walked past the Lomography stand and picked up a copy of their free magazine which has given me lots of inspiration for my future snaps, I especially want to play with the coloured strips you can put in front of the camera as I mainly tried double exposures while in Berlin.

I think they came out pretty well for a beginner? My favourite ones are now framed and on my wall of fame in my bedroom. I won't be posting this weekend as I will be in Liverpool for my housemates 25th Birthday enjoying lots of shenanigans and relaxing after a 9 day stretch at work. A much deserved break I do think, I will be taking my Mini Diana with me to try and capture some of the fun. Enjoy your weekend!

Beauty Buys

I would be the first person to admit that I am certainly not the most girly of girls. However when I saw this sparkly case at work I basically squealed at the amazing tackiness of it and had to hide the last one in the stock room for weeks before I could afford to buy it as I am on a very tight budget at the moment. I have been wanting to buy some proper make up brushes for a while now and learn the art of correctly applying make up. These brushes were a little steep at£14, although I have seen single brushes in Boots for the same amount. I think these are a great starting set as they have what each brush is for written on the bottom and are really sort too. I am a bit of a make up novice and the type of girl who buys whichever foundation is cheapest, but would like to invest in some proper brushes, lotions and potions in the future. Does anybody have any recommendations?

A mix between the school girls flat footed safe bet and the fashionistas nod at 90s nostalgia, the Flatform is the latest shoe trend. While one may instantly think of days pinning for Emma Bunton’s Flatform’s before she fell off them as one fifth of the Spice Girls, this time around the Flatform is a more high class fashion statement.

Starting at Prada with those monstrous trainers before taking over LookBook in the form of Underground Creepers, everybody is rocking the Flatform. From Rhianna on X-Factor all the way through to the first cool kid of Dalston who happens to stumble into you bleary eyed on a Sunday morning, the fat-bottomed flat is the shoe of choice.

While some may think of soap bars and others may think of cyber goths, when done right the Flatform can look the right side of edgy fashion. Juxtaposed against lace dresses with pointed collars or roughed up with leather leggings; the Flatform lends an interesting detail to an outfit which is sure to last more than a season or two. A previous hit with Teddy Boys and the Rockabilly set, a boyish charm works best with the Flatform trend.

Just a very quick post this evening. I wore this outfit out today on my run around doing some errands on my day off work. I absolutely love this shirt which I got in a charity shop for £3 recently. A girl at work asked me where it was from and her expression was priceless when I told her, I don't really get that mentality. How is a charity shop really any different to vintage, all you've done is cut out the middle man. It is the same principle yet one is tarred with a brush of smelly old people and the other with endless miles of glamour.

Anyway I am super excited for tomorrow as I am assisting my best friend with a fashion shoot she is doing. My role will be a styling assistant which I have dabbled in before and really enjoyed, it will also be great to two of my friends doing what they do best. I plan on taking lots of snaps myself on both my digital camera and my Mini Diana which I will be sharing. We are also planning to take lots of snaps of the three of us too, it will be nice to have some sober ones!

Another weekend spent at work and another weekend in, seems to be the story of my life this month bar a horrendous night out last weekend which we won't go into. I knew November was going to be a tough one of 48 hour weeks and little to no life but the party animal in me is desperate to get out. As a recent ex-student I am used to going out at least twice a week and have previously done seven days on the trot during one spectacular reading week. It isn't all bad though, my lack of alcohol has actually resulted in my skin picking up its game and loosing a little bit of weight, and it is all working towards the bigger picture. You might know that I am heading to California next year for a month to go to Coachella festival and basically live the dream road tripping around San Francisco, LA, Vegas and Texas. Obviously I am stupidly excited and keep telling myself a night out missed at home is a night out gained in America.

I also have a very exciting December planned. Not only is it Christmas which means lots of festive excitement and time spent at home with family, cats and chickens but I have quite the month planned. Opening with a trip to Liverpool for my housemates birthday we are planning quite the weekend away before returning for three stints at our local, Brixton Academy, to see The Vaccines and attend both Soulwax-Mas and XFM's Winter Wonderland - so much excitement. Only two weeks until it all kicks off I guess.

Anyway about my clobber, the dress is really really old Topshop but I absolutely love it still. I don't wear it much apart from in the winter as it just doesn't go with sandals, but I adore it all the same. Does anybody else have pieces of clothing like that? I got really upset when I snagged it at work this week which you can see in the pictures, two years of goodness with chiffon is a pretty good achievement though, right?

Not so much an outfit post, but a post of my winter look this year. Every year I have searched endlessly for my perfect winter coat, and I am sure I am not alone. This year however I bought my coat in August and yes it did sit in my wardrobe for two months with it's tag on before it got worn. While this might seem like madness to some, I have observed that the high-street puts it best change of season items out earlier each year and I end up regretting not buying 'the one' obscenely early on and missing out.

I know that Dalmatian print is going to be a one hit winter wonder but I absolutely fell in love with the coat the day I saw it online, so much so I headed down to Oxford Circus Topshop and bought it the same day. Despite this prints cool factor I do think I will wear it into the new year and next winter too. I love the collar and cuffs, this is the only fur coat I own. I think my hat adds for a great Russian twist while my boots are a beloved Christmas gift from a couple of years ago.

Just a little post on the new boots I got from work, how amazing are these beauties? I got them on Monday after doing a faulty exchange for another item which had started to fray. While I was just intending on getting store credit, I walked into work and saw these sitting on one of the tables and knew I just had to have them, the fact they didn't cost me anything either makes them all the sweeter addition to my wardrobe. I do not usually wear heels during the day although I wish I could, despite this I did put them on for a good two and a half hours before I decided my flats were a lot more appealing. I am hoping to ease myself in with these to the world of rocking heels during the day, one step at a time.

Rough Trade East: Lucy Rose

After conducting an interview with Lucy Rose for 1883 Magazine I was invited to her in-store gig at Rough Trade East to celebrate the physical launch of her single 'Scar'. A massive fan of the young and extremely talented singer song writer I jumped at the chance to go along.

Entering Rough Trade a silence fell over the few hundred people rammed inside as Lucy Rose took to the stage. A shy and humble young lady she nattered onstage between blowing away a captivated audience with her music. A soft and warbling yet powerful voice with such sincerity that even her darkest lyrics sound like a dream. Commenting in my interview that she only writes about things she has experienced, a graceful honesty came across in Lucy Rose's live set.

I have honestly been even more blown away tonight by this fresh talent than I had been before. I sense huge things for Lucy Rose,

There are so many lovely things out on the high street at the moment that I just had to share some of my favourites. As I was putting this together I noticed a red, black and white theme showing through and I think it it such a lovely, yet day time glamorous look. I am desperate for a pair of black suede day time heels at the moment and am in love with chelsea boot heels so these ASOS babies really appeal to me. I think they would look amazing with the red dot Topshop dress, grey knee highs and velvet back pack.

I have also become a massive fan of The Great Frog London jewellery, it is just such a shame it is all so expensive. I have never had a manicure and my love of nail art and fun polishes has exploded over the last year. These Models Own polishes are everywhere and ASOS are currently offering these three for £10, such a steal! I have asked my Brother to get me a WAH Nails voucher for Christmas, these lovely bow ones are £29 and I really can't justify that myself, but as a Christmas treat it seems worth it.

Feel a bit like a 1990s Nirvana fan when I wear this outfit, or maybe a bit Avril Lavigne with the plaid skirt. Either way I absolutely am in love with both this skirt and hat which I bought for around £5 for both at a vintage shop in Berlin last month. I am rarely seen without some sort of hat in the winter months and this one is just so snuggly and I love how thick it is. I decided that three necklaces, although it looks like more, was appropriate with this outfit to get in a bit of layering with my favourite cross necklaces.

Today was Remembrance Day as I am hoping you are aware. I saw hoping as my work did not hold a moments silence today, so in outrage several of us had our own in one of the fitting rooms. Ever since walking around a concentration camp in Berlin the facts of war have really hit home with me and I just cannot believe anybody would not take a moment to think those who fought and are still fighting. What astounded me even further was some of the careless and idiot comments made by some of my co-workers which went so far as "I'm not English I don't know what it is" to "When/What is that again?". It was a WORLD war, it is today and if it wasn't for those heroes the world would be a very different place. I am so angry.

I saw this floral cardigan/cape/shawl at work and had to buy it on my break. I have been looking for something like this for ages and this one was an absolute bargain. I love the length and the colour, the print is also absolutely gorgeous - my new favourite! I also quite like it tied up and then with a knot on either side just to mix it up a bit as its one of those statement pieces which needs to be played around with every now and then.

I have been doing some more writing this evening for 1883 Magazine and for my own website too which I am hopefully relaunching at the weekend, exciting times. In other news The Horrors and The Maccabees have been playing a lot in my room this week after recently buying tickets to XFM's Winter Wonderland again this year at Brixton Academy. The Maccabees are one of my absolute favourite modern bands and I have seen them an obscene amount of times live over the years. Including this was at Bestival back in September where they played a lot of new material from their third album out in January next year. This little teaser has gotten me all excited for what they have in store next,

I am aware that I am superly duperly early with this but my Christmas excitement this year has come on full swing. The shoes speak for themselves in terms of amazingness, however will probably be buying these myself/forever mourning their loss as I have other things which come first such as saving a ridiculous amount of £ and $ for California 2012. More realistic things such as the DVD and CD's are things that I rarely buy myself as I can never justify the money for them despite knowing I will enjoy them.

The YSL Arty ring is something I have wanted for two years now and my Mum has finally caved and agreed to buy me one. I am kind of glad I have waited until now to get one as this version of it is the most beautiful one I have ever seen. I cannot wait to try it on and look at it lovingly all day, every day. Too much excitement over a ring that doesn't mean 'forever'.

As you may have noticed, I am not a jeans girl. Or a trousers girl. Or a leggings girl. However after the lovely people at AX Paris offered me a pick of something from their website I thought it was time to dabble in something new. I chose these rust coloured trousers as the colour is perfect for autumn and something I don't have anything of in my wardrobe. I really love them as they are so comfortable and I am going to wear them out tonight with my DM's and a massive cream knit jumper to the fireworks with my Brother and Dad. I got these necklaces and a few other bits and bobs from Forever 21 yesterday, we are currently doing 30% off all jewellery making everything disgustingly cheap. The deal runs until Sunday so don't miss out!

My Brother is moving just down the road from me today in Brixton which is super nice as I don't get to see my family very much now I live in London. I've been working lots still and am looking forward to the rewards of it at the end of the month! I have also been doing lots of writing and emailing to get my life into gear and hopefully get somewhere with my writing. Obviously I will keep you updated/gloat with any successes.

1883 Magazine: Lucy Rose

Today I had another piece of work published by 1883 Magazine online on the wonderful Lucy Rose. I have been in love with her voice for quite some time now so it was a really brilliant feeling being able to interview her and hopefully get her music out to more people. The reason I want to become a journalist is to share all the things I love and treasure with other people and I really feel like I have done that with this piece. I've also heard today that Lucy liked my interview so much I have been invited to her gig at Rough Trade later in the month as a thank you, and I am super excited to see her live!

I first heard about Project Shut Tup through my best friend, Mirri Rowland, who was telling me about the photo shoot she had been working on for the project. The project is an attempt at saving one of Britain's remaining fashion factories which has been the starting place of many goods for the couture British fashion industry. An important place with lots of history and machinery just waiting to be used, Project Shut Tup is hoping to sell enough of their hip tote bags to save the factory and begin supporting British brands by opening it up to new designers.

I wanted to do a small post and explain my sort of absence from the internet world. I have been working 6 days/48 hours a week recently and any free time I have had has been spent either sleeping or drinking or writing or spent with the friends I miss. I also miss blogging and tweeting though and am hopefully going to get back on top of it all this week, especially as I have my first ever brand sponsorship which is very encouraging indeed - more on that later!

In a little more detail I went out last night in Brixton for Halloween and dressed up as Cruelle de Ville! My outfit wasn't quite as good as I wanted it to be, nor was my hair, but I think it looked pretty good all the same? I have also been seeing the Christmas lights going up on Oxford Street and even saw Selfridges getting their Christmas Trees delivered last week which really got me in the festive mood. I am usually a bit of a Christmas grinch but am all over it this year.

Not much else to add apart from hopefully I will be having some more work published soon which is brilliant. Happy Halloween! x

Maybelline Eye Studio Lasting Drama Gel Eyeliner in 01 Intense Black

As somebody who has worn the same eyeliner in the same cat-flick style since I was fifteen years old, splashing out into other brands was some what of a daunting make up challenge. I have been thinking of investing in some more high end make up products from the likes of Mac and Chanel, such as Mac's pot and paint eyeliner, however wanted to try out the method before I handed over the money.

This is where Maybelline's Eye Studio Lasting Drama Gel Eyeliner came in. I have seen a few other bloggers trying it out and thought I would do the same thing. At £7.99 it is a tad pricey for a low end brand, however having used it the little tub is going to last me ages and ages so think it is a fair price to pay.

The product itself is absolutely brilliant! The little brush makes the eyeliner really easy (and fun) to put on as you have more command over your lines. The fact that this is a gel and not a liquid also makes it a lot easier to paint your eyes in the way you like, and you don't get any of those super annoying lines on your brow bone while it is drying. The only downside is that it isn't quite as long lasting as I would hope, however will be buying this, or the Mac version, in future instead of the one I had been using for the last seven years.

Euro Tour: Berlin

Last weekend I went to Berlin with two of my favourite girls for a Euro-trip before we say goodbye to our lives until April when we will travel around California for a month. Berlin is one of those cities I have wanted to visit for a long time and after finding some £41 return flights with Ryan Air we just couldn't resist.

Arriving late on Wednesday at our hostel we started as we meant to go on with a couple of beers before hitting the hay. On Thursday morning we decided to get the most heavy thing on our list out the way; a trip to a concentration camp used by the Nazi's in World War II. While at some points I felt physically sick from some of the things that had taken place at the camp, it was also a very interesting and humbling experience. I have had all the facts of WWII drummed into my head while at school but it doesn't really make sense until you see a place where it all took place.

After our trip to the camp, during which we got heavily rained on, we had some dinner at the hostel and went to Rosi's. An amazing underground bar set in a disused warehouse the club was set up almost like a house with a kitchen, lounge and dance room area. We had an amazing dance to our favourite songs, during which I strained my knee, and got fully into the Berlin swing of staying out to the wee hours.

The following day we headed to the Berlin Wall and caught up on some more history during our trip. Having pizza for lunch we were outraged when our waitress charged us for tap water! Outraged we headed to a bar for some cheeky cocktails and soon calmed down with Strawberry Daiquiri's to sip on. After this we headed out to White Trash for more dancing and drinking fun; we discovered gold tequila which is a shot with cinnamon and orange instead of salt and lemon. It was absolutely beautiful and made better by an encounter with the ever gorgeous Josh Beech. Sitting outside the club for some fresh air we were greeted by a "Guten Tag" from a group of lads. Replying with a "Hello" the boys told us they had seen us at the bar of our hostel earlier that evening, which they were also staying at, and gave us a knuckle bump before saying they'd catch us later. Turns out that is was Levi model and musician Josh Beech who was touring with his band Josh Beech and the Johns and staying at our hostel for a few days. I basically freaked out for the rest of our stay with various "Hi's" and "Good Mornings".

The next day we did some more WWII tourist stops with the Jewish Monument and the bunker in which Hitler killed himself before doing some shopping. If you check out one shop in Berlin it has to be Garage. A huge shop that offers a 14.99/kilo rate on a large range of items I got a shirt, skirt, two head scarves and two hats for a mere 9 euros - amazing!

Sunday saw us take a chilled and hungover trip to Mauer Park for the weekly flea market which occurs there. We found a few lovely knick knacks before heading to the bear pit. Running every Sunday afternoon with the flea market, The Bear Pit seats a few hundred guests around a circle on which karaoke takes place on a mass scale. From Spice Girls to Journey and The White Stripes we heard and sung along to it all before heading for our first ever Dunkin' Donuts. For dinner that night we went to the most amazing Thai Restaurant, the meal definitely had made my top 3 meals of life, let alone on the trip.

Our last day was a mega chilled one wandering all around Berlin Zoo and Aquarium to ease us back into the harsh reality of going home. I was super excited to some eisbahrens or polar bears, and we even saw a lion wee on somebody which had my laughing my life away. I had an absolutely incredible weekend with so many more, non internet friendly tales and would really recommend Berlin to anybody looking for a cheeky weekend away. Hey gang, been a bit quiet this weekend as I had my drink spiked while out of Friday night which made for a very sick and unhappy Saturday. Felt better today and spent the day on our roof terrace with one of my housemates enjoying the last of the sun. Got this little baby, the Mini Diana F+, through the post on Friday and am absolutely in love with it. I bought it to go to Berlin with so am really excited to see the results. Not much else to add except I hope everybody else is excited to see Nowhere Boy on Channel 4 tonight! Should do a wee post during the week before I go to Berlin on Wednesday, thank you all for all your brilliant suggestions on where to go while there.

I don't know what I thought the results would be of taking outfits photograph the day after I got sent home sick from work but here you go. Thankfully it is mega sunny today and I could use the glare to hide my face ha. I lusted after this dress for ages before finally tracking it down and making it mine forever, I love anything with collars at the moment and the cut out sides just add a little something cheeky. This is the other short necklace I got from work for layering underneath my many collared shirts and dresses, what do you think?

It dawned on me and my friends, Saima and Jen, that we are going to Berlin next Wednesday, it has completely crept up on me but I am so excited! We made a promise to see more of Europe and this year I have already been to Prague so know just how much fun we are going to have. Does anybody have any tips on places we have to visit while there?

Sunday Snapshot is going to be a new feature on my blog, each week I aim to do a mini interview with a blogger, photographer, fashion brand, model, musician or anybody else who I find inspiring and who I think my readers will enjoy reading about. I am really excited to start Sunday Snapshot with one of my favourite bloggers, they ever so lovely and wonderfully dressed Olivia of What Olivia Did. As you'll read she has just been nominated in the much talked about Cosmo Blogger Awards for Best Newcomer, a very deserving candidate you can vote for her here. Keep reading to see why...  

First of all, what inspired you to start your blog?

  I'd been browsing fashion and style blogs for a while, and after reading them and feeling pretty inspired I felt compelled to start writing mine! I was mainly talking to myself for a while, but I think the more you read the more inspired you become, so other blogs have been a real drive for me to write.  Your just about to go to University, what course are you studying and what interests you about it?  I'm about to study English with a joint Communication Studies honour, which should be exciting! I liked the fact the course combined both aspects of English, literature and media which are three things I'm extremely passionate about.  

You have a really solid style, what and who do you refer to when getting dressed in the morning?  

(Awwh thank you!) When I get dressed in the morning I try to dress to make me feel happy and comfortable. I've realised lately I have quite a plain and simple style, but I have learnt that no-fuss dressing works for me. If I'm feeling really uninspired I do have the tendency to go to Lookbook and see how others have styled a certain item to get me on the right track!

  You have a few ‘luxury’ items, how did you come by these pieces?  

I was lucky enough to be given the Mulberry Alexa for my 18th birthday this year, which I am unconditionally grateful for I couldn't believe it. I've also been given a Balenciaga by one of my bag-loving family members, which I was also incredibly excited about! I feel very lucky to have them, and haven't bought another bag since and doubt I will any time soon!

  What is the one item in your wardrobe you couldn’t live without?  

In all honesty, I think it would be my Topshop Pippa jeans. I know it's a little boring but I honestly don't know where I'd be without them, they're the foundation to some of my favourite (and most comfortable) outfits.  

If you could steal any girls wardrobe who would it be and why?

  Hmm, this is tough! It'd probably shockingly enough be someone like Alexa Chung's, Fearne Cotton's or Drew Barrymore's! They all have extremely covetable style and some amazing pieces I wouldn't mind getting my mitts on!

  Your blog seems to have grown pretty quickly, is this true and if so what do you think your formula to success has been?

  In the last few months I think my blog has grown a little, which is really lovely, and I can't believe how kind people have been and supportive. I think it's been down to determination and commitment, I've recently started writing more frequently which is helped, and I also think networking with other bloggers is good as you get to know people, and they become aware of you.  

What does it mean to you to be in with a chance of winning the best newcomer in the Cosmo Blog Awards?  

Absolutely amazing and utterly surprising! I'm so flattered to be short-listed, as there's some amazing competition up there, but I'm thrilled that my readers have voted for me it means the world!

  You occasionally do interviews with people you admire, who would you most like to interview and why?

  Hmm, this is so difficult! Either one of my 'stylish ladies' above, or Alex Turner, as he is one of my favourite song writers! (No doubt I'll think of more soon though...) or even Sarah Jessica Parker... hmm!  

Recently you posted some photographs you took, is this a hobby or more of a career minded endeavour?

  At the moment it's more of a hobby. After studying it at A Level I recently felt a little pressured to photograph and didn't enjoy doing it so much. My friend said to me today 'sometimes it's best to keep something a hobby as you'll always enjoy it' and I think she's probably right.  

One of the places you’ve blogged about going to is New York, if you could go anywhere in the world where would it be and why?

  Ooh this is also tricky! I've always wanted to visit Greece and it's islands. They always look so beautiful, and I've heard great things about them. Also as cheesy as it sounds, watching Mumma Mia really made me want to go haha!

  Lastly what is it about blogging that you love, and where do you wish to take ‘What Olivia Did’ in the future?

  There's so many lovely things to blogging, but I really love the networking side to it, as I've spoken to some really inspirational and hard working ladies who have given me a real push in writing my blog, which has been amazing. In the future, I'd just like to be as happy as I am writing the blog as I am now, and if it continues to grow all the better!

These pictures didn't quite come out as well as the last in my new photograph taking place, but I really wanted to show you this shirt I got from work yesterday for £11.50. Much to the visual merchandisers dismay I call this the swap shirt, I've been told the colour is ocre but whatever. It's that green, mustard, moss colour that reminds me of Topshop but for a quarter of the price, the shirt also comes in some other colours which are tempting me too. I absolutely love the sheer material of this shirt and layering short necklaces under collars is my new favourite thing, expect more to come.

It has been a funny old week for me, despite already having three pieces of work published with at least two more on the way I have been doubting myself incredibly. I got news of a collage friend doing amazing well and jetting off to New York to become an accessories designer for Armani. While I am unbelievably happy for her as she is a true talent and the hardest worker I know, it kind of puts working in retail and writing for free under a harsh light. Had a tantrum last night, spoke to my best friend and brother and an now on the positive go getting track again. Got lots of fun things to look forward too on my first weekend off work in two months this weekend, so placing my chin high.

Today I had a couple of London Fashion Week reviews published by What?! Magazine online, which is a really cool quarterly magazine in A3 format. I went to fashion week last year with The Daily Express and it was an amazing experience. While reviewing shows that have already happened from my bed isn't quite as exciting, this is some more great exposure for my writing. As you may have noticed over the last month I have completely let my blog go. I think The Robyn Diaries has taken a turn for the worse as I have not only moved house and been getting used to working full time again, but have been more than enjoying the very end of summer. I have finally settled down into the routine of life and become re-inspired to focus on my blog, and my writing, and to make both the best they can be. My nature is to always strive for more and to be better than I was before so don't think I will ever give up on either. I have lots of exciting new ideas for my blog and while it will be a work in progress, I hope to take things forward with every new post.

On to the outfit, both the dress and jacket are from work. I have taken a liking to more structured pieces recently with a vintage vibe, and my work has so many pieces like this that it is hard to restrain myself. This outfit is a lot simpler than anything I usually wear and I quite like that fact, although I know I will be piling on the jewels again any second now. The delicate waterfall effect of the faux leather jacket is gorgeous and I love the three quarter length sleeves, probably just as I can show off my new tattoo! I feel a lot more grown up in this outfit than usual, but still have an urge to rock it up a bit, suggestions?

A quick happy London Fashion Week to everybody going, some of us have full time jobs and can't attend - aka me. My best friend is currently scouting about taking pictures of shows and I am super jealous of her having gone previous seasons I know the fun she will have. Oh well, looking forward to all the new trends and inspirations to come.

Yesterday evening I returned home from one of the most magical weekends of my life at Bestival. The festival which is held on the Isle of Wight is the most pretty and eccentric festival I have ever been too, with so much effort put in to make the campsites and main arena look like something out of a fairy-tale.

Not only were the surroundings out of this world, but the music was also superb. From seeing one of my favourite ever bands The Cure live, to hearing new music from the Maccabees and finding new flavours to enjoy such as Beardyman and Yuck there was enough choice to keep all entertained. Beyond the realms of music there was also stages of cabaret, theatre, roller disco's, spoon armys, relaxation tents and the ambient forest. With fairy lights and statues leading the way through the forests tracks to poetry readings and hammocks to hang out in the ambient forest was the place to chill out from partying hard. Another must visit attraction was the wishing tree where you could go to 'tree-hab' or party to 80's classic come night fall.

One of the things Bestival is most famous for as a festival is it's fancy dress day on a Saturday. This year the theme was Rock Stars, Pop Stars and Diva's which I loved. Walking around the campsite and seeing almost all of Bestival's fifty five thousand attendees go all out in fancy dress was an amazing thing to see. Above you can see us as Lady Gaga, Beyonce at Glastonbury, George Michael and myself as Lily Allen.

Another of my favourite aspects of Bestival is the freedom to adorn any sort of wigs, face paint or outfit you wish outside of fancy dress Saturday and not feel the slightest bit ridiculous. A mixture of multi-coloured wigs and glitter, which I am still finding on my body now, were our outfits of choice.

On Sunday night we went full out with glow sticks, and shot glasses, yes you read that correctly, added to our outfits. The firework set after Bijork was simply amazing especially with the sing along madness that occurred to the accompanying music. I don't think the pictures above, despite being quite good even if I do say so myself, really begin to cover how magical a place Bestival really is. All I have left to say is a big thank you to the following man for his amazing creation...

Evil From The Needle

Got my fifth tattoo done today at Evil From The Needle in Camden. It has been over a year and a half since I last had one done so I was a bit nervous about going through the whole thing again but it was really fine. Done in a flash and not really that sore at all, think I am still a bit numb from Reading Festival at the weekend though (will post about that later!).

The tattoo says "Please don't slow me down if I'm going too fast" which is a lyric from my favourite song Reptilia by my favourite band The Strokes. To me it is a comment on diving into life and just going for it and not wanting to stop. The Floating Cinema

On Friday night my housemate Kim and I decided to have an evening out with a twist. Instead of acting on my natural disposition to go out, get wrecked and go dancing we did something a little more mature. Attending The Floating Cinema showing for Fantastic Mr Fox (which is indeed fantastic by the way) at Bromley-By-Bow we had a wonderful evening. Sitting on the river bank on a warm summers evening with a picnic blanket we had been given by the organisers, we chatted and sipped on Jacques while watching an array of people dressed up as fancy foxes turn up. The atmosphere was amazing and really great fun, the best part being that bar some snacks and drinks the entire evening was completely free! While chatting we both decided that the evening would make for an amazing date as well as a fun and chilled night out. The Floating Cinema is doing a few more showings before the weather goes completely crap so I do suggest heading over to their blog for listings and to see some amazing foxy outfits!

Hopefully, finally, I have figured out a way to take better quality outfit images in my new flat, I think these are better although not so mad on the wires and door handle in the background. Hmm.

Anyway, the outfit. When I first saw this fringed, floral kimono at work I simply knew I had to buy it and did so on my lunch break the very same day it came into stock. I love the colours and the print of it! I think it would also look good with a plain black vest but thought that it looked quite cool with this stripy t-shirt on underneath as I do love my clashing prints. Wearing my usual necklaces and trusty Topshop leather shorts. Sadly the lining in them is starting to go (sob) so might have to buy some more soon, although nothing with ever compare to these bad boys.

I had some really exciting news this morning, I have been chosen to be the Motel Rocks Festival Fashion Blogger for Reading Festival and potentially Bestival too depending on how it all goes. The Perfect Sunday

After an epic and spontaneous night out as a cave girl on Saturday, pictures below, I spent the day at my best friends house. Waking up early we had dippy egg for breakfast before finding a snake in the house. It turns out the snake had escaped from my friends brothers room as he had kept it as a pet and had died behind the fridge. When the initial shock had gone and we realised it wasn't going to attack us it became absolutely hilarious.

We then picked fresh beans from the garden and peeled home grown apples to make a roast dinner and apple crumble for pudding. While it was cooking we went on a bike ride around the lovely Surrey to work up a proper appetite for the feast we were about to devour. It was such a great day and a wonderful way to recover from quite the hangover of the antics the night before...

VLOG: Tour of my new abode

Well here it is, my first ever vlog! I recently moved house and have been wanting to show off my amazing new room to everybody and anybody I can as I love it so much. I spent today waiting in for my new bed to arrive from IKEA and then spent the next 2 hours putting it together with a little help from my housemate Joanna. I feel really settled in my new adobe now, despite all these riots and the constant sirens outside. If you were to look on the riot map you would see that every place around us has been hit, including Brixton, Peckham and Clapham Junction so we are feeling really lucky to have escaped for the most part bar a few smashed in shops.

Last night we had a little riot BBQ on our roof terrace to calm our nerves as we were expecting another evening of feeling scared and watching in horror as these disgusting people wrecked our beloved city again. Thankfully we saw only a hand full of emergency vehicles go past although earlier this evening I did witness 7 of those black riot vans and 8 silver Police vans speed past our house on the wrong side of the road with sirens on, eep.

Been planning lots of exciting things this week, including going to Reading Festival for the weekend this year despite promising myself I never would again, buying Bestival tickets and a cheeky weekend holiday to Berlin in October. Going to be needing to pull lots more shifts at Forever 21 for spending money though.

I bought these four lovely rings from Lily's online blog shop JWLRY. I am not usually one for silver jewellery but I have recently eyed up lots of gorgeous pieces and bought some necklaces from work so felt I needed some rings to go with them. The set of three stone rings cost £8 and the turquoise and silver one was £4, a bargain as one ring like this alone would cost that in Topshop. Lily has lots of other great pieces too but get your orders in now as she is shutting her shop for a small while!

On a less cherry note I cannot get my head around what is going on in London at the moment. I live a short bus journey from Brixton and work on Oxford Street and it is so sad to see what is happening as it is absolutely mindless violence which is ruining peoples lives. I am also pretty scared about going up into town and am thinking of not going to work on Wednesday depending on what is happening. Stay safe!

Topshop for Teenage Cancer Trust

I got an email this morning from Topshop about their latest range of garments to support the Teenage Cancer Trust. Last year I bought the t-shirt and am sorely tempted by one of these lovely sun cover ups this year too. I am not usually one to talk about things, but anything that supports Cancer is a very good cause in my eyes. My Mum suffered from Breast Cancer and it really shook the lives of everybody in our family, she is well now and hopefully she will continue to be so.

These cover ups are beautiful and really fit in with the floral kimono style that has been all over the blogasphere recently. Topshop are donating £10 to the Teenage Cancer Trust with every purchase, however they are also placing pots to donate at till points and a £1 donation option online.

In case you were wondering no I haven't died, I have instead been very much alive and well running around the new Forever 21 that opened on Oxford Street this week. The store is so lovely inside but I have been working 2-11pm without time to stop bar dinner and it is very, very tiring. Don't get me wrong I have worked in Topshop on Oxford Circus and the biggest H&M in London too but this is something else entirely.

On top of working my arse off I have also been packing up my shit and cleaning my house in time for moving day on Sunday. Super sad about leaving my lovely housemates but their students still and I am sadly not so I have had to say 'Goodbye' probably until the next time one of us wants a drink, but you know, house memories.

Been writing some interviews for 1883 magazine this week too, which I will show you the fruits of when they are published so look forward to that. Hopefully post again after the weekend when I get a moment to breathe!

Here I am today doing my best impression of a real life Dalmatian, my favourite type of dog. I wore this outfit sans the hat and with heels out of Friday night and really loved it. The button up pointy collar is a nice step away from all the peter pan collars that have been doing the rounds for months now. I have also been looking for a hat like this for the longest time and found this gem on ASOS, I can tell I will be getting a lot of wear out of it. I also recently bought an AA hoodie in the grey 'salt and pepper' shade, an item I have coveted for so long it is silly, I am so pleased I bought it as I have been snuggling into it all weekend despite the warmer weather.

In other news I wangled a new iPhone out of O2 today which I am so happy about, no more cracked screen and slow service. If you follow me on Twitter (@Robyn_Lynch) you will know I went to see Mystery Jets on Thursday night in Kingston, they were absolutely amazing and I am really excited for album number four. Was so sad to hear about Amy Winehouse yesterday, I heard the news while doing the end of year house clean with my housemates all heavily hungover. I've found out since that she lived about about three streets down from us which somehow makes the whole thing weirder. Rest well you beautifully talented and troubled soul.

Hey gang, as you might know I am moving house in a week to Brixton! What you might not know is that me and Jo, my new housemate, need a third person to move in with us. If your looking for somewhere to move too, or know of ANYBODY who is looking to move to London then please take a little look at the link below.

The room is £300/month excluding bills but it is still an absolute steal. The flat is really lovely and well presented and just a bus ride away from Brixton tube station in Zone 2 of London. Myself and Jo have both just graduated doing different fashion BA's so are looking for a boy or girl around the age of 21 with tastes of the creative kind to move in with us. We are both fun, outgoing and easy to get on with and also quite tidy but not to the extreme. We can't live with any students for council tax reasons, sorry. We are looking for somebody to move within the next couple of weeks.

Ever since I first saw Alexa Chung rock a pair of these Russell & Bromley black patent Chester loafers I have lusted over them. Years of buying high street look-a-likies and pining for the real thing today led me to buy the originals. An investment which I hope will see me straight for a good few years and not fall apart like my beloved copy cat replicas previously have. I took a trip to the Oxford Street shop and headed straight for them, picking them up and turning around the Chester shoes for the hundredth time knowing this time I would actually get to try them on and buy them. The shop assistant seemed very happy when I quickly asked to try them in a 7 and decided even faster that I was going to buy them. Typing my pin into the card machine I felt a little giddy and smiled to myself. These are the most expensive thing I have ever bought myself, and while I do feel a little bit guilty for spending quite so much on one pair of shoes I know they will bring me so much happiness, both to my heart and my feet.

Graduation

Today was Graduation day for me, something I wasn't too sure I wanted to go to when I first started Uni probably because I never ever thought I would get a 2:1. It was a nerve racking and happy day that I got to share with my family and friends. We managed to get a sneaky hat throwing pic after our year group one which I love! We were also lucky enough to have Zandra Rhodes shake our hands when our names got called, which only added to the nerves I think, she looked amazing in her bright pink robes though.

Dress wise I decided to go a sort of fifties look, what do you think? My Grandma, whose 90th Birthday was the day before, decided she wanted to try on my shoes as she had a similair pair when she was my age. The below picture is possibly the best thing I have ever seen...

What is this, a dress that isn't floral? I know a little different for me but I love the print of this, it kind of remind me of the Flintstones. Wearing too many necklaces as usual and my loafers. Am buying the Russel & Bromley black patent loafers on Wednesday, too much excitement. I bought this ASOS coat about a month ago now after my old Topshop one got unceremoniously pooed on by a bird on my way too work, oh the glamour! While words cannot convey my distain for heritage brands such as Barbour and Jack Wills, I love the grandpa feel of this jacket with its plaid lining, elbow patches and buttons. The fact that it has a hood just makes it even better.

Am really looking forward to the next week as it goes Today: Friends Birthday Party, Sunday: Harry Potter and Nandos with the family, Monday: Grandma's 90th family BBQ, Tuesday: Graduation, Thursday: Mystery Jets and sign for new house, Friday: First day at Forever 21.

A little bit of jewellery porn here from the amazing Pamela Love. Her first resort collection for 2012 is rumoured to have lower price points than her previous offerings, however I will am going to start saving now for these gorgeous pieces despite their October release date. Using lightweight resins instead of heavy jewels this time around, the pieces are now even easier to wear to add an amazing edge to your wardrobe. The crosses, skulls and gold half moon with blue crystal pieces are my favourites although I would covet any piece of Pamela Love in my ever spiralling jewellery collection.

I picked up this dress from a charity shop recently, it was £7 and is very old Topshop. I absolutely love it, despite it being a little big. The girly-ness of the the sleeves with the little frill, the ruffled bit across the waist and the length all make it perfect for those in-between weather days. It is such a great colour too and as you may have noticed there is hardly a day when I don't wear something floral.

This week I found out I officially have a job at Forever 21 starting on the 20th July, how very exciting! I quit Accessorize this week and my boss couldn't have been less bothered, not to be sour but her attitude and incompetence is one of the reasons I am leaving. Other than this I have mainly just been working and looking forward to next week during which it is my Grandmas 90th Birthday, my Graduation and I will also be seeing Mystery Jets, so there is lots to look forward to.

I have applied for a few exciting paid writing positions/internships this week too, so I will let you know if any of those come to light. I am ready to get back into writing and fulfilling my dreams after a very long time of feeling totally uninspired.

This weekend I spent up in the ever charming Edinburgh with my oldest friend for a good old catch up and to see her for her birthday. Edinburgh is such a beautiful city and I had such a giggle and good time mooching about, picnicking and drinking with Charlie in the many gorgeous parks in the city. As a silly billy I completely forgot to take any snaps bar a few on my phone, damn it!

I bought this skirt for £19 instead of £53 in the Motel Rocks sale and am very happy with my purchase. I was unsure at first as I believe I was sent the wrong item, I ordered this skirt but knee-length and when the maxi version arrived I wasn't sure if I could pull it off. After much adoration from my housemates and a trip out to the pub in this outfit I decided I absolutely love it!

Not too much other excitement, house hunting commences again soon which is always exciting if a little stressful, be nice to not live in a student house this time though - my current abode of very loose morals is taking its toll although it has been a very good year indeed! As I am far too sunburned to do an outfit post this evening I thought I would share with you some of the things I have bought recently. I have been on a very tight budget so haven't been spending in a long time. On Friday I finally had a little bit of extra money so decided to treat myself.

The polka dot and floral dresses I spied in h&m a wee while ago and really couldn't resist. Such cute patterns and perfectly light and airy for summer. I plan to wear them with my cycling shorts, lots of jewels and sandals. The denim peter pan dress is one of my favourite things I own at the moment, too cute!

The make up and rings speak for themselves. The ticket to see Mystery Jets at New Slang in Kingston however is a lot more exciting, for me anyway. I missed them when they played New Slang last year as I was at Benicassim. However I am so excited to see them for the hundredth time (still got bruises on my foot from seeing them in February!) for lots of dancing, drinking and being silly both at the gig and club night afterwards.

One of the other things I bought was these sweet little candles. Paperchase have a sale on at the moment and they came to £4 for all of them - amazing. I plan on lighting them in a bit while watching the last on the Glastonbury footage. Might have a little boogie in my bedroom when Beyonce does Crazy In Love, definitely one of my all time favourite songs.

DIY: Fringed T-Shirt Tutorial

You will need:

20 minutes

scissors

a t-shirt

A month or so ago I was sent this Rolling Stones T-shirt from More T Vicar which I really love as I am a massive fan. I was really busy with Uni at the time and then went to New York so I completely forgot about posting it in a outfit. Instead I have decided to do a little DIY tutorial demonstrating how to make a fringed t-shirt. It is so easy to do, and makes such a huge difference, I think this looks really cool!

1/ Decide how high you want the fringing to go and lay your t-shirt out flat

2/ Cut off the bottom seam of your t-shirt so it has a sheared edge

3/ Cut your first piece of fringing up the t-shirt to your chosen length

4/ Cut your fringing all the way round at the width of your choice

In May I was lucky enough to see one of my favourite ever bands, Death From Above 1979 live at Kentish Town Forum. Having just arrived home from New York I was horrendously jet lagged and ended up being ridiculously drunk as a result at the gig. With my friends Saima and Chris it was one of the best gigs I have ever been too, only beaten by seeing The Strokes. The gig was filled with twenty somethings who had loved the band when they first came out about five years ago going absolutely mad as if they were sixteen again. It was amazing.

As you can imagine I couldn't resist a t-shirt to remember it by, especially when it is such a cool one. I have been wearing it loads with these shorts to girl it up a bit, I've cracked out the cycling shorts again as I fully love them. The shoes I bought a few years ago but have never really worn, think they might be getting a rebirth as they are rather lovely.

How has everybody's weekend been? I had a banging Friday night, a job interview on Saturday and just seen my Brother for lunch at the OXO Tower. I also watched Camelot last night, I've become completely obsessed by it - anybody else?

A little outfit I wore this week while shopping with my friend Helen, I was wearing a different jacket at the time but feel this looks a lot better! I bought this dress a little while ago but have worn it loads, so comfy and flattering! I also love these cycling shorts. I first bought a black pair from ebay yonks ago but they broke so I went to h&m and bought more. On Tuesday I was lucky enough to find both the black and grey in the sale for £3 each, so I snapped them up immediately. These are great for the summer when you want to wear a dress but maybe not show off your rear end, I think the lace adds a cheeky something too.

I discovered a new band recently called Two Wounded Birds, their track Midnight Wave has been on repeat for the last few weeks. Infectious surf pop joy...

Not too much else to add, am looking forward to this weekend which will be my last as being a mega lazy slob before I work 30hrs next week and almost the same every week for the foreseeable future. Not really jumping for joy but definitely looking forward to payday and actually having something to do except watching Jeremy Kyle and Black Books,
